Falcons Class: Parliament Week
To celebrate Parliament Week, Roz (who works for the Houses of Parliament) came to talk about the running of Parliament and the House of Lords. As a class we then separated into four groups, within our groups we thought of a party name and then had to use many of our school values to create a school day our party would provide for Westrop School if we won.
Eco Council: RSPB Big Schools Birdwatch
Last week, Eco council took part in the RSPB Big Schools Birdwatch. We worked together to see what birds we could find in our school grounds. Our results were sent to the RSPB to help identify birds in our area.
Turtles Class: Onomatopoeia Poems
This term in Turtle Class our topic is ‘Superheroes’. To kick our Superhero literacy off with a BANG we are going to be looking at onomatopoeia poems. Today we had a look at our model poem called ‘The Sound Collector’ and thought about the different onomatopoeia words we could find. There were lots to choose from such as scrunch, bang, whistle, bubble and creak.
Butterflies Class: Aye Aye Captain!
This week we started out new topic – Pirates! The children have really enjoyed starting this topic and have loved all the activities and stories we have been reading. At the start of the week we turned ourselves into Pirates and then we read a new story ‘Mungo and the Picture Book Pirates’. The children drew fantastic story maps and did some brilliant writing
